1. What advantages does ProjectDox offer compared to competing products?

ProjectDox offers significant advantages in three main areas: 1) The customer owns the software and thereby enjoys the freedom to configure and scale ProjectDox per their own requirements without incurring extra fees, 2) ProjectDox offers powerful process design and workflow tools that are easily customized and implemented and, 3) ProjectDox is very friendly to configure and own, and can be adopted by users at all technical skill levels, ensuring it can be used even at the subcontractor level.

2. What value does the optional workflow and eForms module provide for my business?

ProjectDox allows you to take nearly any existing project management process involving documents and/or drawings and images, and replicate it electronically as part of ProjectDox communication and collaboration. And not only is the ProjectDox process/ workflow module powerful and flexible, it is also extremely easy to use – even for very complex, challenging processes and accompanying forms.

3. How many document formats does ProjectDox support?

ProjectDox supports all the major document and 2D CAD drawing formats (over 100 different formats and format versions). For a full list, click here.

4. How many projects can I support with ProjectDox?

Our “Foundation” version supports 5 concurrent or “live” projects. The unlimited server version supports as many live projects as the customer’s CPU, memory and disk space allow.

5. How easy/difficult is ProjectDox to install and configure?

While ProjectDox does require Professional Services for installation and configuration, the system can be up and running in as little as two business days. This is considered extremely easy and efficient for a complex project software system like ProjectDox.

6. What training is required to use ProjectDox effectively?

It is highly recommended that all ProjectDox administrators participate in at least a full day of technical training (8 hours). ProjectDox “project owners” will also greatly benefit from training that reviews project-specific set-up and configuration within ProjectDox. End users require little or no training to access and navigate ProjectDox, but can benefit from a brief interface overview which can be directed through the online Help resources.

7. How does ProjectDox keep my data secure?

Access to ProjectDox is by invitation only, and ProjectDox allows you to require SSL certificates for invited users. Folder and document access is directed by permissions stored in the database, which are set for each user and/or group profile by the ProjectDox Administrator or accessed through pre-configured permission profiles via LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol). Documents, drawings and images stored in ProjectDox are accessible for view, annotation, redaction, download, printing or copying by permissions only. Viewing, annotations and redactions for specific files are performed using a high-quality screen rendition of the original file and never the original file itself, which can only be modified by the author.

8. Can I use ProjectDox for bids and RFIs?

Yes! The workflow tools can be combined with eForms to create a Bid or RFI process that becomes part of a ProjectDox project site. ProjectDox can also be used in other pre-construction phases, such as marketing, customer acquisition, and client management.
